The Spread Offense

Luke 4:42-44

So most of us know what the spread offense is. In case you don't here is a sum up of it. In football it means that you have your guys spread out as much as they can on the line of scrimmage in order to make the defense do the same and make it easier to run certain plays and get more yards and/or touchdowns.

I Can't Hear You

Jeremiah 36:1-4, 20-26

Has anyone ever come to you and told you something that you just didn't want to hear? Maybe it was that they were telling you that you needed to not do something, or change the way you doing it or something like that.

The Burden of Proof

"Prove by the way you live that you have repented of your sins and turned to God." Matthew 3:8 (NLT)

Have you ever known that person that was all talk about stuff? You probably know the kind of person that I'm referring to here. It's the person that is more than happy to TELL you all about what great things they have done or can do, and yet you've never actually seen them DO these things that they are talking about being able to do.

This Little Light of Mine

Do you remember that old song? You know the one:
This little light of mine, I'm gonna let it shine. This little light of mine, I'm gonna let it shine, let it shine, let it shine, let it shine. Hide it under a bushel-NO! I'm gonna let it shine. Hide it under a bushel-NO! I'm gonna let it shine, let it shine, let it shine. Won't let satan whufff it out, I'm gonna let it shine. Won't let satan whufff it out, I'm gonna let it shine, let it shine, let it shine.
Man that was a great song for vacation Bible school and children's Sunday school and stuff like that.  It made a point and it was fun to sing. I remember doing all the hand motions and stuff like that and getting up in church to sing this song.

Hammer Time

I read a crazy story last night.  It was about a guy who for 20 years helped to oppress a group of people. When the time finally arrived that the people rose up against the oppressors this guy first led his troops into the battle, thinking that there was no way the rebels could actually rise and defeat them. After all the oppressors had better equipment and probably more people (the story didn't say how many troops the oppressors had).

There's Grace for That

Well it's all over except the crying (if you were pulling for Texas). That's right the National Title game for college football is done and the Alabama Crimson Tide won their first title since 1992...that's a long time to go. They had an undefeated season, had the Heisman Trophy winner, and now are the national champs. It was one heck of a season for them.

The Past Decade

So I'm sitting here waiting for the water heat up for a cup of hot chocolate, listening to the rain outside and thinking about how cold it is out there and how bad it's going to suck to have to get ice off of windows in the morning. I'm thinking about what I want to write that isn't just a stream of consciousness. By the time I finish writing this and it is read we will be 7 days into 2010. That's crazy man.

The Fan

One of my favorite things is sports. If you know me, you probably know this little tidbit of information already. If not and you are reading this just because, well I like sports. Football and basketball take the top two spots for me, but really I like others as well. And I like them at just about all levels (no matter  how painful they may be to watch at times).

Seeing Stars

Sunday morning we were sitting in church. A pretty typical thing for me on a Sunday morning really.  In case you were wondering, Sunday was also the 9th day of Christmas.

Turd Love

I have three of the coolest, sweetest, most lovable and loving kids ever. Seriously, they are great kids. I love them to death and I would do everything in my power to provide for them and to protect them and to make sure that they realize how very loved they are by me.

Keep Plugging Away

It's late. Sorry about that, I've been thinking about what it was that I wanted to write and now it's late. That and I was watching the Alamo Bowl as Texas Tech  beat Michigan State 41-31. All three kids are finally asleep too. Little Man sure had a LOT of energy tonight it seemed like, it was probably 11:15 at least before he finally went down. Roni is asleep behind me and I now sit here writing and drinking a glass of cold sweet tea (Red Diamond)

Peace and Love- 1/2/10

I have a hope, a vision, an idea for this here particular blogging space. My goal is to try (and it is heavy on the try) to write something each day along the lines of a devotional. I'm not sure that I will be able to do this, but again it's a goal and I will try. So with that in mind I wanted to kick off the New Year, albeit one full day into it.
